Last week, EFI Global's Johan van den Heever, Head of EFI Global Africa and Werner Sieburg Pr Eng, EFI Global Lead Forensic Engineer, hosted a webinar arranged by our corporate partner, Insurance Institute of South Africa. The webinar covered major fire loss case studies (including wildfires, thatched risks and composite panel structures), as well as solar photo-voltaic systems and the pros and cons of lithium batteries. The webinar was viewed by 500 attendees, which is a record. More delegates wanted to join but the system capacity was reached. As a result of this, the IISA have now upgraded to a capacity of 1000, for future Sedgwick/EFI Global webinars.

More technology means more risk of damage from major weather or fire events — and higher replacement costs for those affected. In our newest commentary paper "Calamities from the carriage house to the wine cellar," forensic experts Jay Kramarczyk, MS, PE, CFI and Konnor Snook, P.E. explore the increased risks we all face, and share their insights on how we can protect our tech (and homes!) in 2025 and beyond. https://bit.ly/4geojEt #fire #property #risks #electronics
