Enrollment is open for the new EFA self-paced class Introduction to Academic Copyediting! This eight-module self-paced course is a comprehensive introduction to academic copyediting and the skills necessary to become an effective editor in the academic field. It is targeted at people who have intermediate-level copyediting knowledge and want to move into academic copyediting, but are not necessarily academics. Academic copyediting requires a specialized skill set that extends beyond traditional copyediting. It necessitates familiarity with specific style guides (such as APA, MLA, and Chicago), proficiency in formatting references, ensuring consistency in citations, and understanding specific conventions and mechanical aspects peculiar to academic writing. The course will become available on 8/28/24. To register, please visit https://lnkd.in/eXiz9nrF

Do you have author resources on your website? If so, what are the best ways to structure them? When I asked what topics you'd like to see on our EFA LinkedIn page this month, this was one of the requests. Well, the first person I thought of was Louise Harnby, and sure enough, I found this excellent primer on her website about why and how to create a "learning centre" on your editing website. What do you think? Would you try something like this? #AmEditing #EditingWebsites #Websites #FreelancerWebsites #FreelanceEditors https://lnkd.in/e-x9wXCA
