Synchronized motion allows two motors be electronically 'geared' together using encoder feedback at the servo controller level, as opposed to classically, when the current positions are compared in the controller, and if any discrepancy is found, it is compensated with speed alterations. Although that process may be effective for slower processes, it would certainly lead to collisions when it happens at speeds like this.
