This week, Office of California Governor Gavin Newsom shared a preview of the 2025-26 budget (to be announced on Friday) and also highlighted some education milestones from the 2024 budget cycle, including the state's $25M investment in the implementation of screenings for the risk of reading difficulties (including dyslexia) in all K-2 classrooms. EdVoice is proud to have been a co-sponsor of the universal screening bill in 2023 that led to this milestone. Universal screenings are set to begin in the 2025-26 school year. It is estimated that over 100,000 students will now receive the evidence-based early interventions necessary to support their academic success. #CABudget #GovernorNewsom #EducationPolicy #RightToRead #EducationAdvocacy #EarlyLiteracy
