This is a terrific podcast. Sure to prompt rich conversation.
?? ?? ?? From White Folks Who Teach in the Hood podcast ?? ?? ?? Christopher Emdin and I didn’t make the book to make the book. We made the book to spark conversations. Most of those conversations will happen offline and off camera. Some of them must be shared… Today we are proud to launch the From White Folks Who Teach in the Hood podcast. We're planning this as a limited edition podcast that will run for the next several months, during which each week we’ll release a conversation with a white educator reflecting on their racial identity, their work, how their racial identity impacts their work, and related topics. This first episode is a conversation between Chris and me about why—in a world where there are no shortage of loud white voices—we chose to assemble a collection of essays by... white educators. Chris shares how the reactions he got to his New York Times bestseller For White Folks Who Teach in the Hood inspired him to create this companion anthology. I anticipate some of the challenges the book may receive, and invite *a certain kind of* smoke. And we dig into why fighting racism is paramount to white peoples' health, happiness, and potential flyness. Please check it out. Subscribe. Give it a review. Give us your feedback. And pick up the book! Links in the comments below.
