Recognizing the inherent biases in data processes, we strive to incorporate diverse perspectives to ensure our approach aligns with our values, particularly our commitment to equity. Our Data Equity Statement is a living document that will guide our ongoing efforts in data collection, analysis, and sharing, acknowledging that we work within systems of oppression. We commit to consistently assessing how we adhere to these principles, knowing that we will make mistakes and can always learn and improve. Learn more here: https://lnkd.in/em3a8tJJ #dataequity

Education nonprofit using strategic philanthropy for student empowerment.
关于我们
Edvestors mission is to advance equitable, meaningful education that prepares every Boston student to activate their power and shape their future. Edvestors is a school improvement organization that combines strategic philanthropy, education expertise, and implementation support to help schools create the conditions for school change. We work at the classroom, school, and system levels to accelerate improvement in Boston’s schools. Since starting in 2002, Edvestors has raised and invested $35 million in school improvement efforts. Edvestors works to strengthen school effectiveness so a quality education is available to every student in Boston. To do this, we tap the ingenuity already present in our city’s schools, nonprofits, neighborhoods, and institutions so that we can take a problem-solving approach to meeting challenges. We borrow good ideas that are working elsewhere, generate new ideas where needed, and think creatively and strategically when putting good ideas into practice. We invite a wide and diverse network of stakeholders to collaborate. And we share what we know and learn about how schools change, paving the way for more schools to make more progress.

Mayor Michelle Wu joined last week’s Employer Network Meeting, thanking private sector partners for their commitment to Boston’s youth.?With the Summer of 2024 in the books, Mayor Wu called on Boston’s private sector employers to expand hiring to make internship opportunities available to even more students. ? In addition to Mayor Wu, several employers and partners provided insights from Summer 2024. Allison Vernerey, the Executive Director of Mayor’s Office of Youth Employment and Opportunity, kicked off the meeting with an overview of the successful first summer of #futureBOS. Jeremy Gooden (EdVestors)?reviewed their program’s interview process, Hakim Harris (John Hancock) provided tips for training supervisors, and Jesenia Cortes, Ted Cullinane, Ashley Felix, and Darren Nguyen (Mass General Brigham) shared onboarding best practices. Mary L Churchill and Cara Mattaliano (BU Wheelock SPACE Office) also recounted their impactful first summer hosting interns. Lastly, Mental Health Collaborative, a partner of The Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC), presented on the importance of mental health for young professionals, and three working groups in healthcare, financial services, and clean energy spoke on the advantages of collaboration in sector-specific groups. ? We would like to express our gratitude to Mayor Wu and the Office of Youth Employment and Opportunity (YEO), private sector employers, and our community partners for providing high-quality internship opportunities for students. After-school employment and career exploration opportunities with the PIC and YEO will continue throughout the school year. Let’s bring the same dedication to Summer 2025! ? If your company is interested in hosting a summer intern, reach out to Josh Bruno, Director of Employer Engagement, at [email protected].

Students with disabilities, multilingual learners, and Black and Latinx students face systemic inequities throughout their education and into the labor market. Even for these populations of young people who complete postsecondary education, there are still significant disparities in employment and earning outcomes. #NewSkillsBoston aims to improve these systems and remove structural barriers in support of creating engaging, relevant, and equitable career pathways that prepare young people for their futures.
