5 reasons to believe in the power of coaching - as a school leader, according to LaTyia Rolle. 1?? Leadership is isolating and there’s so much on our shoulders, the best support for a leader is to help provide clarity. We need glasses to help us find clarity in our work. 2?? Coaching gives me the opportunity to own where I’m at and allows me to take one step closer towards being able to achieve my goals by taking a closer look at them. 3??Coaches give you the opportunity to look at the life jacket (the support you need to be successful), put it on tight, adjust it and make sure it’s secure before running around and doing all the things. 4??A coach is the outside person to help you funnel through all those pieces, going through all those parts. 5??There’s a feeling of dread that I have to commit this dedicated time to thinking about how I am and how I’m doing. We want to stay in the space of decision making, taking action. But, after we have that reflection, we are so grateful. The power of having that time, just an hour a week, gives me time to be better, for me, my team, my school, my family, my community. We all need this space. Have you ever wondered what a classroom teacher’s perspective might be on instructional coaching? In this #coachbetter episode Kim Cofino chats with Brenda Lee, Grade 4 teacher at Al-Bayan Bilingual School (BBS) Kuwait. We’re excited to share this episode with you because it’s a topic that’s been requested by you! We received a request to hear from educators (rather than coaches) about their experiences with coaching. In this conversation with Brenda, they talk about ??How instructional coaching has supported her growth as an educator ??How instructional coaching fits within the context of educator professional growth ??What classroom teachers need to know to opt in to coaching ??How she makes time for coaching in a busy teacher’s schedule ??Why some teachers resist coaching ??How coaching works for her as a classroom teacher ??Why she’s hoping to make the move from classroom to coach This episode is a fantastic example of why teachers chose to opt-in to coaching – and how you can articulate the value of coaching for your prospective coaching partners! ??
