Educators in VR is deeply saddened by the news of the US White House executive order to close the Department of Education. As an open, global community of educators dedicated to exploring and collaborating in virtual and augmented reality, we stand in solidarity with our colleagues across the education sector during this challenging time. We share the concerns expressed by America's state teachers of the year for 2024, who worry that the future of public education is under direct attack. The dismantling of the Department of Education will have far-reaching consequences, particularly for our most vulnerable students. At Educators in VR, we believe in the power of technology to enhance learning experiences and break down barriers in education]. However, we also recognize the critical role that federal oversight and support play in ensuring equitable access to quality education for all students. The potential loss of protections, resources, and funding provided by the Department of Education is deeply troubling. We want to assure our community that Educators in VR remains committed to supporting educators, students, and educational institutions during this uncertain time. We will continue to provide educational events, trainings, and workshops to prepare educators and learners for the future of spatial technologies in education. Our platform will remain a space for collaboration, innovation, and mutual support as we navigate these challenges together. ?? Soaring Through the Red Planet: An Out-of-This-World Experience in ENGAGE XR! ?? Ever wondered what it's like to fly on an alien world? Well, yesterday, our EDVR XR News team took a thrilling journey to our new EDVR Red Planet in ENGAGE XR, and let me tell you, it was absolutely incredible! Suited up in space gear and equipped with jet packs, we zoomed across the Martian landscape, searching for satellites, rovers, and marveling at the breathtaking terrain. The highlight? When Lance turned into a cosmic tour guide, creating an impromptu "space bus" for six lucky passengers! Huge shoutout to: * The Educators in VR Team for their phenomenal work on this virtual world * ENGAGE XR for providing those snazzy space suits I can't remember the last time I laughed so hard or felt such pure joy. Thank you to his amazing team and the students who stayed up in the middle of the night to be at our show in ENGAGE XR. (Video coming) The work that Paul and his team are doing in Kenya is amazing. Today, they are hosting their 317th weekly show in ENGAGE XR, originally launched in AltspaceVR to showcase the wonders, stories, and emerging technology in Africa. The work they are doing to give hope through education in immersive technology to the young girls of the area and beyond brings tears to my eyes. I've witnessed his dedication and commitment, and theirs in return to lift themselves up to new heights, encouraging and supporting others.
