With the unfathomable devastation in Baltimore this week, our hearts are broken in multiple places. The ripple effects of this on the lowest income families served primarily by our public schools will only add to the already increased challenges our public school teachers face post COVID. The @https://lnkd.in/eEHEUSvD (ESC) launched 18 months ago to uncover and coordinate concrete projects to show teachers how much the community cares and supports them. These everyday heroes are tired, stressed and too often victims of frustrated families, students and the press. They deserve our love and support. Through the care of folks like Cindy Paradies, Kelly Ennis, Nikomar Mosley, Erin Deason, Charmayne Turner, Charelle D. James, Steve Kaiser, Roger Schulman, Sara Milstein, Shantay McKinily, William Levy, Christopher Battaglia, Sarah Sandoval-Mohapatra, Danielle Nekimken, Sara Rowan, Chris Puddy, Morgan Singer, Shamy Garcia, Jerome Gray, Amanda Lowery (LEED Green Associate, WELL AP, CDT), Ada Anagho Brown, Billie Marie Malcolm, Jodi Hume and many others listed on the website, our first project recruited 6 interior design/architect teams, matched with furniture dealers, contractors and related suppliers. After asking teachers and staff from 6 schools what would matter to them, teams transformed little used, distressed rooms into warm, welcoming retreat-like lounges. To keep the love going, partners fulfilled teacher wishlists, sponsored happy hours for over 100 staff from the 6 schools, etc. We are now being asked to build on what we started.
