Due to the Coronavirus Pandemic, the fatal overdose rate is 29% or higher than last year. Overall, overdose deaths last year surpassed 90,000. By contrast, 2019 — the previous worst year on record — had 70,630 deaths. Opioids accounted for around 75% of all overdose deaths. 38.4 % of opioid-related deaths due primarily to synthetic opioids (primarily illicitly manufactured #fentanyl). Overdose deaths involving #cocaine increased by 26.5% Overdose deaths involving psychostimulants, such as #methamphetamine, increased by 34.8%. We can work together with and educate, prevent, and foster a recovery in those in need. Treatment for the disease of addiction works, but unfortunately, the number of new efficient credentialed addiction counselors fails to meet these growing expectations.
