Testing season is fast approaching K12 schools. ?? Students with IEPs, 504s, MLL plans and many others need extra support to be successful on standardized tests. Important practices such as ?? Implementing legal testing accommodations with fidelity (like separate location or Read Aloud) ?? Providing classroom accommodations for anxiety & high stress situations, ?? Grit strategies & calming practices for overall jitters, and ?? Test-taking practice, tips & tricks can help all students with & without disabilities thrive during testing season. ? Any tips from special ed experts on surviving and helping kids thrive during this time?

There are a lot of reasons why more students are enrolled in special education. Regardless of the cause, the reality is that more and more kids on IEPs are in schools and districts. We must be willing to do new things and invest more resources to ensure all teachers are empowered to meet the needs of all kids. https://lnkd.in/gymmttkB

Great advice from a #neurodivergent teacher on how to support both teachers & students! This is a much-needed voice in education today. Fatema Elbakoury https://lnkd.in/etgYDZJV The I Am Able Foundation also supports this work by empowering students to find their own voice.

Great insight from Karla Phillips-Krivickas "One of the first decisions prospective teachers will make when entering their preparation programs is whether to pursue a general education certificate program or a special education preparation program. They must choose whether to teach “these kids” or “those kids.” That’s absurd, especially given the makeup of today’s general education classrooms. New teachers should be prepared for a wide spectrum of learners." Full stop, we agree! https://lnkd.in/etYnjSic
