It's important for the state of Maine to continue to support workforce development programs like the Aquaculture Pioneers program. This week Workforce Development Specialist Meg Krieger told a Maine legislative committee that the AP program -- which matches talented candidates with ocean farmers for an unmatched summer work experience-lready has more than twice the applicants for the slots available this summer.

What's one issue employers, workers, families and educators can all agree on? Childcare! Happy Women in Construction Week! Did you know that many employers in Maine's building trades sector are actively recruiting women to join this critical workforce? The annual WICW celebration is led by the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) and shines a spotlight on the contributions of women in the building trades, including leadership, mentors, apprentices, and pre-apprentices. Our Maine Career Catalyst program is thrilled to be working with some of Maine's top builders and affinity groups to promote interest in, and support for, this growing sector. #WICWeek

In a big win for Maine families and employers, a committee in the legislature today got rid of proposed cuts to childcare-related programs, including a stipend for early childhood workers. Educate Maine is proud to advocate for fair and competitive compensation for those who care for and teach our youngest citizens. We love working with our many employer partners! Right now, Educate Maine is partnering with passivhausMAINE on registered apprenticeship program development. We're also excited about a new certified pre-apprenticeship program for high-performance building systems and practices. Today we had a chance to showcase our work at the passivehausMaine forum.
