Oak Valley Elementary (Buellton, CA) – A transformed slope with a rubberized play hill, climbing obstacles, a giant slide, and a sandbox framed by log steppers. ?? ELOP at Auburndale Intermediate (Corona, CA) – A multi-use space for the district’s Expanded Learning Opportunity Program, blending art, horticulture, and sensory play. Welcome Tommy King, #ASLA, to Edgeland Group's San Diego office as an #Associate in #LandscapeArchitecture! A Bit About Tommy: With over 18 years in practice, Tommy leans on his personal experience and professional expertise to develop places that provide refuge, memory and appreciation with excellence in form, function, and sustainability.?Tommy has had the opportunity to lead projects of all scales and typologies within the public realm, parks and recreation, civic, school, higher education, corporate, healthcare and hospitality markets. Growing up in multiple regions of the country, Tommy's love for the environment, culture, adventure and art led him to landscape architecture.?He believes that being immersed in nature grounds one with the earth, inspires creative thought, and promotes self-reflection.?Tommy views the landscape as the dwelling for human connection, safety, wellness and environmental consciousness.? ? In his free time, Tommy loves spending time with his kids, family, and friends.?He enjoys music and plays multiple instruments.?Outside of the office, find Tommy at concerts, on the golf course, playing nerdy board games or trekking through remote parts of the world in search of discovery. ?

On Saturday, we had the honor of attending the Santa Fe Ten Memorial and the 9/11 Survivor Tree Seedling Program. Students from Santa Fe High School had the unique opportunity to visit Environmental Design's tree farm, where they carefully selected and tagged trees to be included in the memorial. The dedication of tree seedling #904, a descendant of the 9/11 Survivor Tree, added a powerful symbol of resilience and hope to this heartfelt tribute. PBK and Edgeland Group are deeply grateful to contribute to such a meaningful project that honors the memory of the Santa Fe Ten and fosters healing and remembrance for the community. Edgeland Group is thrilled to share a glimpse of our upcoming project, #MaclarenPark in Los Angeles County! This exciting new community space will be packed with engaging features celebrating health and wellness including: sculptural play areas, competition-level soccer fields, sport courts, shaded picnic areas and other passive park spaces - all nestled within a backdrop of nature and lush native planting.?? In partnership with PBK and Bernards, this project looks to create a vibrant environment where the community can safely gather, grow, and thrive. ?? At Edgeland Group, we’re thrilled to share renderings from our latest project in #Odessa, #Texas - a transformative outdoor learning space for a Career and Technical Education Center (CTE). As the #landscape #architecture team, we’re reimagining the concept of an interior courtyard as a protected oasis of refuge in the midst of an arid, harsh climate of the Permian Basin. Key elements of our design include: ?? Shaded areas to create cool, inviting spaces, ?? Rainwater collection for natural resource management, ?? Native, drought-tolerant plants adapted to thrive in the local environment, ?? Locally sourced paving and softscape materials to help reduce heat while also reflecting the region's natural colors and beauty. We’re proud to design outdoor spaces that promote the best possible learning environments for Ector County's students and community. Sante Fe Ten Memorial has announced that their living gift of hope and renewal for their community will be shipped from the?National September 11 Memorial & Museum?in the next few days. Sante Fe High School Club Hope students will have a one of a kind opportunity to prepare the 9/11 Survivor Tree seedling for the Texas climate and tag the future trees for the Memorial so that they may begin to grow. Environmental Design, Inc.?and?Trees For Houston are caring for this special tribute tree while they work towards completion of the Santa Fe Ten Memorial with?PBK?and Edgeland Group. Andrew Schlesinger, #PLA, #SITESAP, joins Edgeland Group’s San Diego office as #Sustainability #Director of #Landscape #Architecture. In doing so, Andrew adds his experience and passion for environmental design and community engagement to EDGELAND's talented team. Outside of the office, Andrew serves on the board for San Diego's USGBC California chapter and on the Programs Committee for ULI San Diego-Tijuana (ULI). Andrew also co-chairs ULI’s Sustainability & Urban Resilience Forum (SURF), which aligns the agendas of developers behind the The City of San Diego's Climate Action and Resilience Plans. In joining Edgeland Group, Andrew is excited for the opportunity to work with directors across disciplines at PBK, as the firm commits to The American Institute of Architects (AIA) #2030Challenge.
