关于我们

Edesia is a nonprofit, social enterprise on a mission to end malnutrition globally. Since we opened our doors in 2010, we have reached over 25 million children across 65 countries with the life-saving foods we make here in Rhode Island in partnership with UNICEF, World Food Programme, and USAID. Our dedicated team of over 150 hails from over 26 countries. Every day we work together to reach children caught in humanitarian crises worldwide and need mission-driven, energetic, passionate problem solvers to join our team.

We’re inspired by the early response to our?Children Can’t Wait?campaign. Together, we can show the world’s most vulnerable children that the American people will not abandon them. Every $50 donation provides a box of Plumpy’Nut and saves a child’s life. And, every gift will be matched, doubling the impact of your generosity. ? On Friday, I had to do one of the hardest things in my life. We had to layoff 10% of our team due to lack of payments from the US Government and lack of clarity on what the future holds for our life-saving humanitarian mission. Many of them were people I have known for over a decade. I tried to address the whole company and found myself, for the first time, unable to speak. So today I will let Debora Avancini, our Quality Control Lead speak for all of us. She posted the following message to all staff: ------- I just want to share something with all of you. At first glance this will sound very sad and depressing but hear me out. While working 2nd shift last night, the production floor was silent. No music, only the noise of the machines. You could see people tearing up and crying as they worked quietly. On other nights, when I walk by the production lines, a crew member would be singing, LOUDLY, along with the music. And wow, can they sing! That always made me happy. But last night there was no singing. I want you to think about that. What other place do you know of where people sing while they work?? Edesia is a special place, with very special people?who care deeply about each other and what we do. We are the exception in a world that is becoming increasingly selfish, petty, and soulless. The fact that we at Edesia care so deeply about the ones who were let go, is a sign of our bond to each other and our bond to Edesia. And that is the hallmark of a family. A bond of love and care because what happens to one of us, happens and affects all of us. Like my mom always said: if one of your fingers is hurt the whole hand hurts. Let's use that hurt in our hearts to make us stronger, to work harder, to do whatever it takes to nurture and protect this family and honor the ones who have left. Let's restart the music. Let's sing again and show them how loud and powerful we can be. Love, Deb (to sign up for our newsletters like the one above go to https://lnkd.in/eVHWrUgy and opt-in at the bottom of the page)

  • Today, my heart is heavy. I had to layoff 10% of our team, some of whom have been part of the Edesia family for over a decade. While the U.S. government fully supports our life-saving mission, the reality is harsh: We cannot save enough babies. We cannot employ our dedicated staff. We cannot purchase raw materials from American farmers without being paid. Every day, we wait for the wire but we couldn’t wait any longer and we were forced to scale down Edesia. Please take a moment to watch the powerful coverage by NBC 10 News. Edesia’s production lines are built to save the lives of 415 starving babies every hour. For 15 years, those lines never stopped. That’s one of the greatest gifts the American people have given to the world’s most vulnerable families, a declaration that families and babies come first. But now, for the past 12 days, those lines have been running at very low capacity, powered only by your donations. It’s heartbreaking because every hour of delay means the difference between life and death. The team here at Edesia will wake up tomorrow, ready to keep fighting. We are an innovative, creative, mission-driven team who is fearless and bold. We will find a way to restore our full capacity and continue the American powered, life-saving work we were put on this earth to do. Today, we need you more than ever. Just returned from an intensive 48-hour speed visit to Washington, D.C. Grateful for the opportunity to meet with key decision makers including Senator Jack Reed (RI), Rep. Ami Bera (CA), Rep. María Elvira Salazar (FL), and Rep. Tracey Mann (KS). I also had meaningful conversations with members of the Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry and was deeply encouraged to see that across party lines, one truth remains clear: feeding starving babies is an American value we all share. Yes, it’s been 240 hours since our lines were shut down. Yes, every hour our production lines aren’t running at full capacity, 415 babies are at risk of dying. We are now at 99,600 and counting. And yes, we are doing everything we can to keep manufacturing going while waiting for government payments. I’m profoundly grateful to everyone who has stepped in to help. Thank you, Navyn Salem

Every hour that our Edesia Nutrition lines are down means 415 children will NOT get the Plumpy’Nut they need to save their lives. Four hundred and fifteen. Help Edesia Nutrition reach more children. $50 = 1 box of Plumpy'Nut = 1 life saved. https://lnkd.in/eVtQYAFN Payments were due at 6pm on Monday, it's Tuesday...there is no time to waste. This was the third deadline that was missed.

When every mile matters, #technology steps in. In Madagascar, the World Food Programme (WFP) is using unmanned aircraft to deliver life-saving nutrition supplies to remote communities—places where roads are impassable, and traditional delivery methods fall short. At Edesia Nutrition, we make the ready-to-use foods that treat and prevent malnutrition, but the journey from our factory to the children who need them most is only possible with bold, innovative solutions like this. With the right tools, even the hardest-to-reach places become reachable. ?? Read more about WFP’s efforts: https://lnkd.in/eeRFjuJF
