As our future leaders, young people stand to lose the most if today’s crises become more insurmountable. But if we get it right, they have everything to gain. With inputs from young people all over the world, the Declaration on Future Generations can safeguard their rights — today, tomorrow, and beyond. ? Because a future built for young people must be built by young people.

And the document is finally out! ?? To see my name among those giants makes me proud and also gets chills down my spine - I am really grateful for the (little) contribution I could give to this beautiful team. Congrats! ?? What is this about? People know that I talk a lot about #bias #responsibleAI #ethicalAI and how to measure it, to observe it whenever we use AI and build AI products and teams. And I will keep repeating it: ?? without diverse voices in development processes, biases will continue to proliferate within AI technologies. The study highlights the persistent underrepresentation of women in AI and its associated leadership roles, despite technological advancements. ?? Low Representation: Women constitute only?29%?of researchers in science and development, dropping to?12%?in AI-specific research positions. In academia, only?16%?of faculty involved in AI research are women, and they hold just?30%?of jobs in the AI sector. This disparity is even more pronounced in leadership roles, where women occupy only?18%?of C-Suite positions at AI startups. ?? Lack of Gender Perspectives in Policies: Among?138 countries?evaluated for their AI regulatory frameworks, only?24?mention gender aspects, with a mere?18?making significant references to gender issues related to AI. These mentions often lack depth and actionable plans to address gender inequalities. ?? Data Deficiencies: The absence of gender-disaggregated data in technology and AI impedes accurate assessments of progress and ongoing disparities. Many statistics on female participation are derived from broader STEM or ICT data, obscuring specific gaps like the reported?44%?gender gap in software development roles. ?? Bias and Exclusion Risks: Women face significant risks from biases embedded within AI systems. For instance, recruitment algorithms often favor male candidates, while voice and facial recognition technologies frequently misidentify women, increasing their vulnerability to exclusion and discrimination. ?? Intersectionality Challenges: women with additional marginalized identities (such as race, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, or disability) encounter even greater barriers in accessing and participating in the AI field. For example, women with disabilities experience compounded discrimination and limited access to technology. After reading this, please let me know your thoughts - let's discuss this and listen to other POVs. - - - #unesco #ethicalAI #w4eai #responsibleai #aiandgender #stem #womeninai #womeninstem #womenintech #bias #ai #tech
