Exciting advancement in food protection! A new study from University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign confirmed use of Eden Park's microplasma Far UV-C light is a SAFE and EFFECTIVE way to alleviate fungal contamination of corn and wheat. This contamination is a serious threat to public health, costing more than $100M in losses annually. Traditional light methods emit a wavelength that prevents humans from being in the vicinity. "So instead, we are using a technology called microplasma-based Far UV-C light. It emits light at 222 nanometers, a wavelength other studies have found to be safe for humans, even at prolonged exposure." Corn and wheat are just the beginning. In reality, the Far UV-C 222nm wavelength does not penetrate the skin or eyes, making it ideal for disinfection without harm to people. The American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists (ACGIH) currently recommends a daily exposure limit of 161 mJ/cm2 for Far UV-C. Eden Park’s MobileShield222 has been designed with these guidelines in mind to maximize disinfection without compromising safety.
