American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ACVIM) has set up an Artificial Intelligence #AI Taskforce investigating how to best help prepare members for the possible impacts of AI on our profession. This includes assessment of opportunities and threats, educational and operational needs. ECVIM-CA is also represented on this Taskforce and hopes to use the results to benefit ECVIM members and residents too. As part of its remit, the taskforce has created a 5 minute survey investigating current AI knowledge, experience and attitudes ACVIM and ECVIM diplomates and residents might have. The ECVIM-CA December Board meeting is happening today - some of the topics we dug into: a new structure for the AGM decisions to allow constructive membership participation (pre-meeting discussion forum, increased use of online voting), Job Satisfaction and Career Longevity Working Group (still time to apply!), re-inventing the case log and look for using data for research purposes, define more clearly the future strategy of ECVIM (why do we exist?), save money to keep memberships and exam fees as low as possible without lowering quality, increasing diversity and widening participation, always whilst keeping the standard as high as possible, the importance of immersion in residencies, as well as finances, reports from exam committees, computer systems, resident feedback - time for weekend now!
