At Ecumen, we love sharing the heartwarming stories that make our communities special, and we're excited to bring you an extraordinary update about one family's journey at Ecumen Meadows in Worthington, MN. The Sieve siblings' connection with Ecumen Meadows is truly remarkable! Donna, Leona, and John have been living at Ecumen Meadows for some time, and their sister Norma has now joined them too. Donna and her late husband Phonse moved in December 2019, followed by Leona and her husband Roger in September 2024, and John and his wife Ruth just a week later. Most recently, Norma and her husband Edwin moved in, bringing all the siblings together for the first time since June 1949, when Donna left home after getting married. This beautiful reunion is a testament to the power of family and community. Ecumen Meadows has become more than just a place to live for the Sieve family—it’s where they’ve come together, reconnected, and shared precious moments. We’re thrilled to witness this incredible journey, and we can’t help but wonder: could this be Guinness World Records material? Regardless, it’s a truly special moment that highlights the importance of love, connection, and family at any stage of life. Not to mention, our Ecumen communities truly are an incredible place to call home! ??

"In celebration of Social Workers Month, I’m reflecting on the incredible privilege of working as a Service Coordinator at Ecumen Bethel Manor and Winona Shores apartments. This role has allowed me to embrace the core of social work: the importance of human relationships. By creating a space where residents feel comfortable approaching me with their needs, questions, and concerns, I’m able to empower their independence and autonomy. It’s about meeting each individual where they are, using a person-centered approach that truly honors their unique needs. The beauty of this work lies in the meaningful connections I get to build. Residents not only trust me with the challenges they face, but they also share their victories, personal growth, and moments with their loved ones. These relationships are what keep me inspired and motivated in my role. They’re my “why” — the reason I chose the Service Coordinator position with Ecumen. Meet Lori, one of our dedicated hospice volunteers providing companionship, end-of-life vigils, and end-of-life doula support to patients in the Twin Cities. A licensed social worker, Lori retired early after the unexpected loss of both her parents a few years ago, which inspired her to seek hospice volunteer opportunities with Ecumen in 2023. As Lori shares, "Death changes you. I've always known I wanted to be involved in hospice, and my personal experiences with loss pushed me to move in that direction faster than I expected. I'm honored when someone lets me enter their life and support them during their final journey. It's truly a gift to be invited into such an intimate space. My mom was also a social worker and volunteered for hospice in the 1980s, so my time as a volunteer is a way to honor her legacy. I've loved volunteering with Ecumen Hospice and have already learned so much." Volunteers like Lori play a crucial role in providing comfort, compassion, and support during one of the most difficult times in a person's life. While partnering with Care Providers of Minnesota, we urged lawmakers to protect long-term care funding in light of a projected state budget shortfall. Governor Walz's proposed cuts could jeopardize access to care, restrict caregiver wages, and undo critical progress in stabilizing the sector. What needs to be done? -?????????????????? ?????? ?????????? ???? ?????????????????????????? ?????? ?????????????? ??????????. Currently, nursing homes must wait 15 to 27 months (as much as 2 years) before receiving reimbursement from the state of Minnesota for the actual cost of services they provide to residents. -?????????? ???????? ?????? ??????????’?? ???????????????? ?????????????? ???????? ?????? ???????????????? ???? ?????????? ?????? ?????????? ???? ???????????? ?????? ??????????????, which will help senior care providers meet the real costs of providing care and establish stronger wages for caregivers. -?????????????????? ?????????????????????? ???? ?????????????? ?????????????????? ???????????????? ?????? ??????????????.
