ecoTHRIVE Housing is a non-profit working to create beautiful, affordable, resident-owned villages in King County that nurture community, human resilience and joy. We’re forming a Community Land Trust to create pathways to ownership that are accessible to people earning low incomes. We aim to move past traditional affordable housing models—that often displace and isolate people—to build a more collaborative approach that meets human needs while addressing climate and ecological sustainability. We believe in the transformative power of community and are committed to an inclusive process to encourage involvement from concept to design, through construction and long-term stewardship. SquareOne mentored us when we first started out and continues to inspire us. "In comparison to rental housing, we found LECs provided significantly greater stability and control to residents through security of tenure and democratic governance. They were also more accessible and less risky than single-family homeownership." ?
