We are thrilled to announce one of the #TransportationInnovationZone (TIZ) permitted projects in partnership with Orange Sparkle Ball, Inc.! Penny Pickup, the robotic food waste pickup pilot, was developed in collaboration with Intermode, Human-I-T, and Ecosphere Organics, with additional support from the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) and NextEnergy This pilot program enables residents and businesses in the area to schedule the pickup of various materials—including plastic grocery bags, small electronics, and commercial food waste—via autonomous ground robots. These materials will be distributed to the proper end-of-life destinations for processing, recycling, and refurbishment. As the first autonomous pickup platform of its kind, we’re eager to see the community benefits and valuable insights this pilot will provide for the future of sustainable waste management! ?? BIG NEWS! Yesterday, more than 30 countries—including the United States—signed on to the COP29 "Declaration on Reducing Methane from Organic Waste." Representing 47% of global methane emissions from organic waste, these countries declared “their intent to work collaboratively and expeditiously to increase the pace and scale of action” toward eight objectives that together focus on prevention, separate collection, and improved management of organic waste. Read our blog for more information: https://loom.ly/f-QC5kw You can also watch "Dana's Dish" to hear from ReFED President Dana Gunders about the importance of this declaration for reducing #FoodLoss and #FoodWaste. #COP29 #methane #OrganicWaste #sdg12
