"I have already seen climate change affecting us in Kenya. The weather patterns are not as predictable as before. For us in the water and sanitation sector, it has become hard to do any drilling because it rains for months, stalling our work. Crop and livestock are dying in the arid and semi-arid lands. This directly affects me, my family, and the country at large. This is the reality we are living in." Lilian Mabonga (PMP?.PMD Pro. MBA. MA), based in Nairobi, Kenya, has been working for 15 years in the humanitarian development sector. She currently serves as Regional Program Officer for the non-profit organization Living Water International, which helps communities acquire clean water and sanitation. Lilian recently earned her certificate in Climate Change Leadership from eCornell. She aims to bring the curriculum back to her work in Nairobi, so she and her organization can better adapt to and mitigate the impacts of climate change through innovative solutions.
