Why do plate fees exist? Plate fees vary depending on the complexity of your design—more colors, large designs and intricate patterns may require additional or specialized plates. Each plate is a custom-made tool created to perfectly transfer your artwork onto the packaging to match your vision. Once your plate is made, it’s reusable for future print runs of the same design, so you only pay this setup fee once as long as you stick to the same design and specifications. So, while plate fees are an initial cost, they’re a worthwhile investment in brand impact.

Ever wonder why MOQs exist? It’s not just about the numbers—it’s about reducing waste. When we start up production, a significant amount of waste is generated as we calibrate machines and get everything running just right. For smaller orders, that waste ends up being a larger percentage of the overall run. But with larger orders, that initial setup waste is spread across a bigger production volume, meaning less waste per unit produced. So, higher MOQs help us minimize waste and maximize efficiency—a win for your budget and the environment. Next time you see an MOQ, remember: it’s not just a number. It’s part of making production smarter, leaner, and more sustainable.

Have you ever gotten one of these & wondered what to do with it? Most of these plastics are No.4 recyclable, which means they have designated thin-film recycling centers. Some communities offer easy access to these recycling points, while others may have limited options. In some cases, you might even need to call ahead before dropping off your items. It’s important to note that thin film plastics are generally not accepted in curbside recycling, so taking them to the appropriate location is crucial. If you're unsure, contact your local recycling facility to confirm what they accept. Find a drop-off location near you with NexTrex Recycling Partners PDF: https://lnkd.in/grphEPKf When you can, consider switching to paper—it’s easier for your customers to recycle!

Looking for a paper alternative to traditional plastic polybags? While they mimic polybags in many ways with their protective qualities, our Ocea? bags do not contain any plastic coatings, making them easy to recycle in curbside programs alongside other paper products. How is this possible? To achieve their smooth and glossy finish, Ocea? paper is supercalendered, a process typically used in magazine production. After the initial calendering process, which compacts the paper fibers, Ocea? paper is further refined by passing through supercalenders—high-speed rollers that alternate between polished metal and soft surfaces. This step adds heat, pressure, and friction, resulting in an exceptionally smooth and durable material, perfect for premium packaging. Made from FSC certified materials, our Ocea? bags are both environmentally friendly and curbside recyclable, ensuring they align with your sustainability goals while providing reliable protection for your products. Interested in making the switch to Ocea? paper bags? Let our team of experts help you transition to paper packaging and reduce your reliance on traditional plastic options.

Is sustainable packaging just a buzzword? The most sustainable packaging is no packaging, but there are ways to reduce your environmental impact. It’s all about making conscious choices from start to finish. From the raw materials and size you select to how your customers dispose of the packaging, every step matters.

Still using air pillows, bubble wrap, or foam peanuts for your packaging? You may soon be obligated to make the switch. These materials are neither recyclable nor biodegradable, destined to clutter up landfills after a single use. But don’t worry—there are better options! Paper-based void fill not only protects your products just as effectively, but it’s also sourced from renewable materials, fully recyclable, and breaks down naturally in compost or the environment. Bonus: It gives your packaging a more polished, eco-friendly appearance. Isn’t it time to make the switch?

What is GRS certification and why is it important? The GRS certification is a voluntary product standard that tracks and verifies the content of recycled materials in a final product. It covers the full supply chain, including processing, manufacturing, packaging, labeling, trading, and distribution. But GRS certification isn't just about using recycled materials – it sets rigorous criteria to reduce waste, promote better working conditions, and minimize environmental impact. It's a powerful way for companies to demonstrate their commitment to sustainability and gain the trust of eco-conscious customers. How can you get GRS certified? To earn the GRS certification, companies must meet strict requirements in several key areas: Traceability: Accurately track recycled materials from source to final product. Environmental Principles: Implement practices that reduce environmental impact and promote sustainability. Social Requirements: Uphold fair labor practices and ensure worker safety. Chemical Content: Prohibit the use of hazardous chemicals to protect both the environment and consumers. Labeling: Ensure clear and accurate labeling of recycled content. Who can benefit from GRS? Although owned by Textile Exchange, GRS certification is not limited to textiles – it applies to any product containing at least 20% recycled materials. This includes everything from packaging to consumer goods. The GRS aims to increase the use of recycled materials in products, reduce harm caused by production, encourage innovation with reclaimed materials, and establish transparency in the supply chain. Plus, it provides brands with tools for accurate labeling and better information for consumers. Want to learn more or get certified?
