The Economic Development Alliance of Skagit County, Washington State (EDASC) carries out business attraction, retention and expansion, and collaborative engagement to achieve a prosperous, sustainable and equitable community while maintaining Skagit County’s natural beauty and quality of life. Skagit County is one of the Pacific Northwest’s best kept secrets for business, investment, and economic development. No other location is as centrally and strategically connected with the Seattle and Vancouver, Canada metropolitan regions, North America’s leading gateways to the Asia-Pacific region. EDASC is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that supports existing Skagit companies, and works with prospective companies on site location, workforce training, identifying incentives and access to capital, permitting, research, and other forms of assistance. We are excited that EDASC's Startup School gets an extra boost! Thanks to WECU and Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines.
WECU is pleased to announce that our Education First Grant Program, initially providing $125,000 over two years to support educational initiatives in Whatcom and Skagit counties, has received an additional boost through a partnership with the Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines (FHLB Des Moines). Through the FHLB Des Moines Member Impact Fund, this contribution has more than doubled to $312,500, amplifying the support for local organizations dedicated to educational and community development. The four 2024 grant recipients – Bellingham Arts Academy for Youth (BAAY), Skagit Preschool and Resource Center, Economic Development Alliance of Skagit County – Startup School, and WHATCOM LITERACY COUNCIL – will now have increased resources to drive their missions forward.
