At the ‘econic earth foundation’ we're focused on environmental conservation through empowering students and communities with renewable energy solutions. Our focus program is the WATTS On Lighting Students Lives project with aim to reach 1M students. We work with schools and education directors to implement an impact program using solar lamps, and monitoring and evaluations throughout the year to research impact both at school and at home. Through our media division we bring attention and focus to the programs and program partners by filming our collaborative installations and sharing their personal stories. We feature these films in festivals, online and in private screenings with Q&A afterwards. Currently our documentary film titled LIGHT is screening at festivals and events globally and touches on the unexpected impacts of solar light in students lives. In addition to our on-site programs, we continue to support smaller non-profits around the World as well as educate on the need for sustainable lifestyles, renewable energy and the importance of balancing the eco-system for our own survival. To date we have worked in India and Kenya doing a variety of solar based and education programs.

As we distributed solar lights to learners last week, it wasn’t just the children and teachers who gathered—it was an entire community. Parents came to witness a simple yet powerful change: their children gaining access to safe, reliable light for studying at night. For Harriet, a learner at Nalusanga Primary School, this means more than just light. "Now, I can study at night and even help with household chores," she shared excitedly. This initiative, led by ChildFund, ECONIC EARTH FOUNDATION, and SeAH, is about more than just lighting homes—it’s about illuminating young minds, improving pass rates, and shaping brighter futures. Wonderful to bring our film titled #LIGHT 'home' to Marsabit, Kenya and screen it in the community where much of it was filmed. Quite possibly our favorite film screening yet!
Screening our film #LIGHT, for American and European audiences is one thing but bringing it home to the community where much of it was filmed was a whole other experience. The film features the unexpected impacts of #solarlight on students living #offgrid, told through a multitude of voices including a beloved Classic Land Rover Defender. Organizing the projector with a chain of extension plugs seemed seamless thanks to our local team and together armed with candies and biscuits in addition to thank you gifts, the scene was set for a great screening experience. Many guests we recognized having worked this community for over 6 years, as its the same community where we econic earth foundation built the Education Center a few years ago that is situated further down in the village from the main school where we screened the film. The faces of the children, fixated on the film being projected, the laughs, smiles and comments seeing familiar faces from the community, recognizing ways of life and a familiar region in the moving images was heartwarming. It’s one thing for a community like this to watch a foreign film, but to see one that has so much familiarity was really special. I wasn’t exactly sure how it would be recieved, but the Moms’ spoke up after and commended the film, and Elders said a few words of thanks in closing. I am quite certain it will be the talk of the community for some time to come. Thanks to our entire team. We’ve now screened in countless film festivals across US and EU, at the @UnitedNations in New York UNAFF (United Nations Association Film Festival), at COP16Riyadh AEON Collective, RE+ Events, AREDAY - American Renewable Energy Day and #GreenBayFilmFestival later this year and have also won another award at the #Love #Peace and #Freedom in Mexico which now makes, 2 awards Better World Film Festival. Given all these screenings, this one has been by far our favorite yet. #Gratitude #SolarLight #Education #Empowerment

We launched our program to bring a simple but much needed solution to the thousands of students who still live without electricity access yet against so many challenges still attend school and work hard to complete their education. We understood through the initial pilot program conducted as an econic earth project, in partnership with FASAL Kenya and Green Sun Cities that solar lights bring transformative results both at school and at home. This led us to refine, rework and develop this program further in order to scale it into schools in multiple regions and countries where most needed. Now working in collaboration with ChildFund and YAFNET Kenya we are able to bring light to thousands of students who need it the most right now. We're currently operating in over 40 schools in Kenya and will scale to over 100 schools in 2025 in Kenya, Zambia and Cambodia. Our goal is to reach 100,000 students over the next 2-3 years and continue scaling so that no child remains without a light in their hands. So proud of our entire team from taking this little pilot project to our first big scale up! With the 'WATTS On Lighting Students Lives' program, we've now reached well over 3000 #students in nearly 40 schools, delivering our #education and monitoring program into 3 #offgrid regions in #Kenya. Marsabit, Narok and Samburu County's. This initiative impacts over 15,000 people. From our Volunteers to Regional and National team, our Film making crew and those that helped us share our story of impact, as well all the supporters giving anything from 5$ to $5000+ in contributions to econic earth foundation and getting us this far.
