We ask you to join us and actualize our vision for a better future—a future where poverty is reduced, nature is preserved, and the planet thrives. When people come together to work towards a shared vision for a sustainable and equitable future, everyone benefits. We are all stakeholders in the well-being of our respective landscapes, but we are also stakeholders at the global level in the well-being of our planet. Integrated landscape management is an increasingly popular approach to addressing our planet’s land use, climate change, food security, and water access challenges. But how can we explain the concept to newcomers? This animated explainer captures the core elements of what ILM looks like in practice. #sustainability #ilm #holisticlanduse #landscape #collaboration #ecoagriculture

  • EcoAgriculture Partners is a U.S.-based nonprofit working in landscapes worldwide to boost livelihoods and local economies while restoring nature. We stand with communities and partners to oppose the sweeping cuts in international aid. For decades, U.S. leadership in global development has fueled economic growth and ecosystem regeneration while reducing conflict and enhancing American prosperity and security—achievements now at risk. The recent decision to dismantle key federal offices and functions jeopardizes these accomplishments and undermines the core values that bind us as a nation. Government and independent data also indicate that international development is not charity but a critical investment. Studies show that development assistance boosts economic output in emerging markets, eases conflicts in fragile states, and supports American industries by recirculating funds into the domestic economy. The U.S. federal government appears intent on retreating from its leadership role. We sincerely regret this hurried withdrawal from the global stage and express our solidarity with all those affected. We urge policymakers to reverse these cuts and restore America’s commitment to international engagement. EcoAg’s work demands a long-term view of politics and policy. While some development funding models alienate communities, today’s upheaval offers an opportunity to decentralize power, strengthen local governance, and create sustainable solutions. Modern community-led solutions like landscape management can bridge agricultural productivity, economic stability, and environmental resilience to safeguard and even bolster U.S. interests. In response to U.S. budget cuts, a broad stakeholder coalition must step forward to build agile, locally driven systems that deliver lasting benefits for society and the environment. We call on philanthropists and the private sector to endure the short-term shifting of political winds and join this long-term partnership to invest in innovative, community-focused funding models that yield enduring impact and returns. We remain committed to fostering inclusive landscape partnerships that transcend partisanship. Together, an alliance of the willing can ensure that America’s global leadership continues to generate prosperity at home and stability abroad, forging a future where thriving, allied global communities underpin a thriving America and a just, secure world. Read our full statement here: https://lnkd.in/g8b3MWCa ?? Join the conversation: How can we work together to strengthen locally driven solutions in this time of upheaval? Comment below! ??

  • Recent analyses highlight that forests, grasslands, plants, and soils store twice as much carbon as all oil, gas, and coal reserves combined. However, unsustainable land use is turning these vital carbon sinks into emission sources. To address this, annual investments in nature-based solutions must nearly triple to $542 billion by 2030. Notably, only 20% of current funding reaches developing countries, which hold 90% of the opportunity for impactful action. https://lnkd.in/eyB9E7iv At EcoAgriculture Partners, we are committed to promoting sustainable land use and integrated landscape management to enhance biodiversity and combat climate change. Founder and Board Member, EcoAgriculture Partners and Advisor of 1000 Landscapes for 1 Billion People

Today marks a milestone: I am stepping down as President and CEO of EcoAgriculture Partners. It has been an honor to lead this organization since its founding in 2002 and to serve as President and CEO since EcoAgriculture Partners? became an independent NGO in 2005. It has been a privilege to lead a wonderful, mission-driven staff supported by a visionary Board, and to have had such rich opportunities to collaborate with inspirational landscape leaders and champions around the world. My passion for regenerative agriculture and sustainable landscapes is undiminished, and I am enthusiastic about advancing that cause well into the future. For several reasons, now is the right time for me to transition from the role of President and CEO. While integrated landscape management was hardly recognized as a concept and approach when EcoAgriculture began, the movement is now flourishing worldwide. There are many promising opportunities for EcoAg in this changing institutional environment that we reflect on as we develop a new strategy and business plan for the future. We will build on our deep experience in supporting leaders and organizations to make the ILM transition and our cutting-edge thought leadership. In addition, 1000 Landscapes for 1 Billion People, launched in 2019 with EcoAg as the lead convenor,? is moving into the scaling phase. EcoAg is committed to supporting the expanding coalition. It makes sense to bring in a new leader for this new phase of our work. I am deeply grateful that EcoAgriculture’s distinguished Board member, Graham Wood, who has extensive experience in sustainable development, non-profit organization, and alliance-building, will serve as our Interim President and CEO during this transition. Thank you all for supporting him. I am highly confident that EcoAg’s exceptionally experienced and talented staff are prepared to move the organization forward into its next phase. I am ready to relinquish executive management responsibilities and eager to focus on the analytical research, engagement with landscape leaders, outreach, and advocacy–areas? I most enjoy. I remain deeply committed to the success of EcoAgriculture Partners and will continue to serve on the Ecoagriculture Partners Board. I will also continue championing the 1000 Landscapes for 1 Billion People Initiative.? I look forward to having a more flexible work schedule, to spend more time with my five young grandchildren, my husband, family, and friends and have travel adventures beyond work. I look forward to collaborating with many of you in my new roles and promoting our global landscape community’s vision and achievements. Keep at it, landscape leaders! Warm regards, Sara
