"Broadcom is officially the mafia now". Those aren't my words, but they could be, but the words of a Reddit poster dealing with their second renewal of VMWare after the Broadcom acquisition. Here are some of the highlights from the post. - 300% price hike during their first renewal under Broadcom - Being forced into a 3 year contract during their current renewal - 2-week deadline to renew or the price goes up 25% - Asked for more time for approvals, etc. Broadcom's response: price increases another 10% for every week beyond the 2-week window as a "penalty" I have been raising the alarm bell on this for a while. If you look at Broadcom's previous acquisitions, this behavior is predictable. It is their business model, plain and simple. If you think it will get better, it won't! They are going to squeeze until they see enough companies migrate to other platforms. Until IT leaders make them feel the pain nothing will change their course. It's time for you to realize what this is. It's a shakedown. You need to take steps today to protect yourself. I don't care if your renewal is in 3 months or 3 years. You are committing financial malpractice if you are not exploring VMWare alternatives. Migrations take time and the best time to start planning is today. The second-best time to start planning, is tomorrow. Reach out to me directly or Team Eclipse at https://lnkd.in/gYCGym7k and we can help you build you plan to escape the Broadcom mafia.
