The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering uses computing and science-based solutions to address complex technical problems. Circuit design, computing systems, electronic devices and manufacturing, communications and signal processing, power electronics and energy systems, and photonics are some of the areas in which they have expertise. ECE students graduate with the knowledge and problem-solving abilities required to excel in professional practice as engineers or to conduct advanced research in these fields.

The University of Texas at Dallas (UT Dallas) and American University of Sharjah (AUS) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish an accelerated 4+1 program.
