Today SmartStart South Africa convened the first stage in a validation process of the childcare systems map, which was jointly developed with Early Childhood Development Action Network (ECDAN) partners through the childcare systems collaborative, for South Africa. With 30 members of their management team, they test ran a process which will be used for a much larger convening of South Africa government and sector stakeholders later in the year. The session was full of rich debate - and yielded important insights on how the map can be adjusted to make it more resonant with the South African context. We are proud to be part of this collaborative effort, paving the way for meaningful change in #childcare. #ECD #Collaboration #SystemsChange

Children have a fundamental right to protection from all forms of violence. Ending corporal punishment is a crucial step towards upholding this right. Did you know that in 2024, Lao PDR and Tajikistan joined 65 other nations in fully prohibiting corporal punishment of children? This global progress is accelerating! Recently, 40 countries, led by Costa Rica and Kenya, made a historic joint statement at the Human Rights Council, calling for the universal prohibition of corporal punishment. We must ensure children's dignity, physical integrity, and equal protection under the law. Watch for the upcoming World Health Organization report launch at the World Health Assembly.
