Loretta Lynch became the first Black woman to serve as U.S. Attorney General in 2015. As the head of the Department of Justice, she focused on civil rights enforcement, police reform, and combating domestic terrorism. Prior to her role as Attorney General, she served as U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of New York, where she prosecuted major corruption and organized crime cases. Her leadership set a precedent for diversity and justice at the highest levels of law enforcement.

Before her political career, she served as the Attorney General of California and a U.S. Senator, where she fought for criminal justice reform and consumer protections. As a prosecutor, she broke barriers as the first Black woman to serve as San Francisco’s District Attorney. Her legal background continues to shape her leadership on national policies.
