Driving Digital Transformation across Government and Healthcare | Vice President, Client Solutions and Partnerships | Strategic Sales, Business Development
Can little tech solve the big challenges state and local agencies face every day? I believe it can—and here’s why. I love this spotlight article from Government Technology on the impact that startups or smaller companies, affectionately coined ‘little tech’, are having on the digital transformation missions of state and local government agencies. Here’s an excerpt from the article: “What difference does little tech make? These companies come alongside public agencies that want to do it for themselves but recognize they cannot do it by themselves. The problems to be solved may appear too small to be of interest to big tech but are perhaps more than civic tech can take on.” When you hear of the challenges that our dedicated government employees face on a day-to-day basis, a common theme shared is the manual, burdensome processes that they are tasked to manage to carry out essential work. That’s why it’s no surprise that Y Combinator named government software its #1 priority for new startups in 2024—addressing these challenges is mission-critical. Since I started attending the APHSA -- American Public Human Services Association #ISM conference several years ago, I’ve seen an increasing number of innovative “little tech” solutions enter the public sector marketplace. I am sure the number of these new companies will only continue to increase! At eCare Vault, Inc., we’re proud to be part of this movement, delivering solutions that help agencies enhance program delivery, support the development and well-being of the workforce, and streamline workflows so agencies can focus on what matters most. What’s next for “little tech”? How can startups help agencies work smarter and deliver better outcomes? I’d love to hear your thoughts! https://lnkd.in/daPvHXkX #GovTech #GovernmentInnovation #DigitalTransformation #PublicSector #StateAndLocalGov #LittleTech #CivicTech #GovernmentEfficiency #TechForGood #APHSA

Driving Digital Transformation across Government and Healthcare | Vice President, Client Solutions and Partnerships | Strategic Sales, Business Development
The future of human services will be shaped by AI – but where are we today? AI is the topic on everyone’s mind, and for good reason. It’s redefining nearly every aspect of work, particularly how health and human services agencies plan and operate to meet the needs of our communities. The potential is enormous. AI-powered use cases are transforming how agencies can deliver hyper-personalized services at scale, improve decision-making, forecast service demand, and support preventative service models (Which I touched on the benefits of in my post last week). AI also offers the opportunity to reduce the time-consuming, repetitive tasks our workforce manages daily, allowing them to focus more directly on their mission of serving vulnerable populations. However, the datasets currently available to agencies aren’t ready to fully leverage AI innovations we’re seeing in other sectors. This stems from pervasive issues such as a lack of data standardization, inconsistent data formats, fragmented legacy systems, limited data sharing between programs, and a long list of other factors that has led to gaps and errors of a unified view of the clients being served. The risk of running said use cases is significant for agencies, as the output may provide biased-decision making for service eligibility which could result in non-compliance, harm, and discrimination. Thankfully, many agencies are taking proactive steps to address these barriers. We're seeing more focus on data governance frameworks, investments in interoperability to integrate modernized systems, and an emphasis on standardizing data collection and storage. These are all essential for AI to deliver on its promise in human services. I stay up to date on news and trends regarding progress on AI initiatives in state and local government through publications like Government Technology, Route Fifty, and Barrett and Greene Inc. – Which are your favorites to follow and who should I add to my list? #AIinGovernment #HumanServices #GovTech #StateandLocalGov #DataGovernance #DigitalTransformation #PublicSectorInnovation #ArtificialIntelligence #SmartGov #SocialImpact #DataInteroperability #TechForGood
