Through the joint efforts of Mayor Katjana Ballantyne and ECA Solar, the City of Somerville is making bold strides in its decarbonization journey. Reflecting on the transformation of the Industri-Plex Superfund Site, Mayor Ballantyne shared: "The solar array was built on land that was designated as a wasteland—a Superfund site—with limited options for development and growth. But passionate and forward-thinking people saw an opportunity and developed one of the largest local, zero-carbon energy generation sites in the Boston area. Today, that array provides nearly one-third of the electricity used to run Somerville's municipal and school operations." Thank you, Mayor Ballantyne, for your leadership in making Somerville a pioneer in clean energy and environmental restoration. ??
