Last week, the world celebrated Global Entrepreneurship Week (Nov 11-17), and for us at EATS2SEATS, it was a chance to reflect on our journey as a student-founded start-up. With an idea born right here in Chapel Hill, it is always special to see how UNC's innovation community continues to grow and thrive. Over the past two weeks, we were honored to be featured on several different panels, sharing our experiences and insights as a student-founded business. These opportunities are a great reminder of what it really means to take that first step and we are so thankful to remain connected to such a passionate and supportive community. Sitting in on this discussion is always special, as E2S was born in Jim’s classroom. Some of our incredible full time team members have joined us after attending this panel, making it a very full-circle, meaningful moment every time we participate. ??"Her Path: Innovating Established Industries" hosted by Entrepreneurship & VC at Kenan-Flagler. As a woman-owned company, Mary Laci Motley, our Founder and CEO, was able to share her experience navigating and innovating in a well-established industry. We’re thankful for this opportunity to connect with and learn from other inspiring women in business. ??The “Student Entrepreneurs Panel” organized by Leaders in Entrepreneurship at Carolina, UNC’s student-run Entrepreneurship club. With roots as a student-founded business, this panel was a chance to highlight both the challenges and rewards of starting young and hopefully encourage others to take their own first steps. ??The “Startup Internship Panel” held at the Innovate Carolina Junction. The summer interns have been going above and beyond their responsibilities to truly help grow EATS2SEATS in all aspects. During their second week, they jumped in head first working all seven days of the U.S. Open. Upon returning to Chapel Hill, they have hit the ground running creating ideas and executing them in order to improve the company. Shoutout to our wonderful interns! I had an incredible experience working at the 2024 U.S. Open at Pinehurst through EATS2SEATS! This event was a fantastic reminder of why I love working in the hospitality industry. The energy of the crowd, the dedication of the team, and the thrill of being part of such a prestigious event were truly inspiring. One of the highlights of the week was working with Oro Pizza (ORO CATERING) and Marra Forni. It was not only fun but also a great learning experience. I had the pleasure of networking with the owners and learning more about their passion for crafting exceptional pizza. Their commitment to quality and innovation was truly impressive. Last week, I had the opportunity to be a Keynote Speaker with Mary Laci Motley for the 2024 Buncombe County Schools Top Scholars ceremony. As a proud graduate and former Student Body President of Reynolds High School it was an honor to share my story with all the brilliant soon-to-be graduates in the room. Special thank you’s to Rob Jackson, Ken Ulmer, Christy Cheek, ACR Principal Ben Alexander, TCR Principal Nathan Allison, and the BCS Foundation for the opportunity to represent EATS2SEATS to the students of Buncombe County.
