The purpose of GAND’s Political Action Committee (GAND-PAC) is to financially support the re-election or election of candidates who have demonstrated interest or proficiency in creating sound nutrition and dietetic policy. These political contributions open the door and give GAND a seat at the discussion table so our voices can be heard. GAND-PAC contributes to legislators in both parties that have a track record of supporting legislation that advances the profession of dietetics, protects consumers, and improves the nutrition security of Georgians. GAND-PAC dollars are used solely to promote GAND and the national academy’s policy priorities within the state of Georgia. GAND has celebrated many advocacy wins?over the last few years in large part due to political contributions which were?made possible by member donations. Most notably, your donations have: Nearly doubled medicaid reimbursement for pediatric MNT, Defeated House Bill 996 which looked to erode Georgia dietetic licensure to title protection only, and Built relationships with several influential Georgia state representatives, senators, and statewide officeholders. Election season (November) and the 2025 Georgia General Assembly (January to March) will be here before we know it, and we look to build on the momentum of years past. Our?advocacy priorities?this year include: Introducing and passing an interstate licensure compact, Re-introducing and passing the model practice act which will provide necessary updates to our dietetic licensure, and Supporting legislation that will improve the nutrition security of Georgians.
