关于我们
Eating Disorder Therapy LA is a multidisciplinary specialized outpatient eating disorder practice in the heart of Los Angeles. Under the direction of Lauren Muhlheim, Psy.D., Clinical Psychologist and Certified Eating Disorder Specialist, we offer a range of coordinated services, including psychotherapy, nutrition counseling, and yoga and movement, all in one convenient location. Our specialty is in the provision of evidence-based treatment for adolescents and adults with eating disorders including Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, Binge Eating Disorder, and Other Specified Eating Disorder (OSFED; formerly known as EDNOS or Eating Disorder Not Otherwise Specified). We also treat anxiety and depression. We are committed to the treatment of eating disorders in people of all ages, genders, and ethnicities. We provide state-of-the-art empirically validated treatments including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Maudsley Family Based Treatment (FBT). Dr. Muhlheim is the only FBT-certified therapist in Los Angeles County. We also provide CBT psychotherapy for anxiety, depression, body image, and similar issues. Eating disorders are complicated and dangerous illnesses. Our clients benefit from our team approach and our clinicians frequently collaborate with other professionals including internists, pediatricians, and psychiatrists. We offer services as a team or individually. Clients of our team practice benefit from our integrated approach for eating disorders and we tailor treatment to each client or family. Our clients who have already retained a dietitian or therapist and are seeking to add one member to their treatment team can also benefit from our expertise. We believe that families do not cause eating disorders, but CAN play an essential part in recovery. We work to provide support for family members who are providing care for their loved ones in recovery.

Some parents may notice new or returned behaviors in their college students when they return "Home for the Holidays: Does Your College Student Have an Eating Disorder?" Could Your College Student Have an Eating Disorder? The return home for the holidays after the first semester at college is often the first time you’ve spent significant time with your young adult since they moved away. Maybe your college student looks a little thinner to you. Or maybe they are not eating the foods they used to eat before they left for college. Or maybe they have a newfound interest in working out. Might this be a symptom of a new (or the return of an old) eating disorder? Or might it just be new healthy habits? The distinction can be difficult. Eating disorders can often mask as healthy behaviors and fly under the radar screen. So read on to learn what to look for and what to do if you suspect an eating disorder has taken hold of your college student. https://lnkd.in/gzat5EVh
