What’s more important in chocolate—taste, or certification? Beyond Good’s founder, Tim McCollum, challenges a long-standing assumption: “There’s no certification that can replace a real commitment to transparency.” Tim dives into why certifications might be missing the mark in the chocolate industry and shares insights on redefining “ethical sourcing.” Do you think certifications still hold weight in today’s chocolate world? Or is it time for a new standard? Uniquely delicious chocolate and vanilla that is Made at the Source and 100% Traceable.
关于我们
We make chocolate at the source in Madagascar and are one of the only brands in the entire world doing this. We do this because... 1. Cocoa farmers make more money 2. More money for farmers allows them to reforest their land and protect the habitats of endangered plants and animals 3. You get chocolate with more flavor

Seeing is believing.?So we send our US team to Madagascar on regular origin trips - to see, smell, and taste where and how the magic happens. Firsthand experience means better storytelling, stronger connections, and a deeper understanding of how we’re changing the chocolate and vanilla industry, from the ground up. When you think of 'vanilla cultivation,' this probably isn't the image that comes to mind. Most picture hothouses with rows of neatly arranged vanilla vines... But this is what a Beyond Good vanilla farm looks like in Madagascar. Our vanilla grows naturally in the forest, climbing native trees and supporting a thriving ecosystem. By ensuring 100% traceability, we incentivize farmers to protect biodiversity—and safeguard the endangered species that call these forests home.

In this FoodPrint podcast, Jerusha Klemperer asks 'Can we hold large companies accountable for the often problematic production of vanilla and chocolate?' For us, it's a YES. What do you say?
Vanilla and chocolate dominate our dessert options, from ice cream scoops to the sweet snacks in grocery aisles. But their industries are full of environmental and social problems. How can we reconcile our love of these essential flavors with their often-problematic production? Learn more in our podcast episode featuring Tim McCollum of Beyond Good: https://lnkd.in/g54CwS92

Made at the Source All our vanilla (and chocolate) is made at the source in Madagascar, which is actually quite rare. By producing directly at the origin, we ensure higher earnings for farmers and unmatched quality for consumers. It’s a win-win. Have you heard of a vanilla tattoo? This photo, taken by Beyond Good's Operational Manager David Klein on a recent trip to our vanilla partners in Madagascar, shows markings known as 'tattoos' on our vanilla beans. As the world's second most expensive spice, vanilla beans are often stolen right from the vine, just before they are ripe enough for harvest. This thievery has forced farmers to come up with creative ways to protect their crops. So they use small pins to pierce their initials onto each vanilla bean while it is still green. As the beans mature, the markings will become more prominent. Find a tattooed vanilla bean? You'll have good luck forever!
