Early intervention for children with developmental delays is key to fostering healthy adults. Kendra Davenport, President and CEO of Easterseals, joined Tetiana Anderson to discuss how early support can set the foundation for mental and physical health and well-being. With adults with disabilities experiencing distress five times more often than others, supporting health from a young age is crucial. At Easterseals, we’re committed to helping children grow into healthy adults through early intervention and support. https://lnkd.in/g4iYGEbx

关于我们
Easterseals is leading the way to full equity, inclusion, and access through life-changing disability and community services. For more than 100 years, we have worked tirelessly with our partners to enhance quality of life and expand local access to healthcare, education, and employment opportunities. And we won’t rest until every one of us is valued, respected, and accepted. Through our national network of affiliates, Easterseals provides essential services and on-the-ground supports to more than 1.5 million people each year — from early childhood programs for the critical first five years, to autism services, to medical rehabilitation and employment programs, to veterans’ services, and more. Our public education, policy, and advocacy initiatives positively shape perceptions and address the urgent and evolving needs of the one in four Americans living with disabilities today. Together, we’re empowering people with disabilities, families and communities to be full and equal participants in society.

Today marks two years since we lost disability rights leader Judy Heumann. Her legacy lives on in the policies she helped shape and the lives she forever changed. Judy believed in the power of storytelling, using her voice to create change and encourage others to take pride in their disability identity. In honor of her, we’re sharing this video from our tribute series, celebrating her impact and the lessons she left behind. Join us in remembering Judy by sharing stories, lifting voices, and continuing the work she started.https://https://lnkd.in/gRu7AajF

Supporting the work of Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) is critical in this uncertain time. Through real stories, we’re highlighting the vital support DSPs offer and the transformative, life-changing effects their work has on everyone we serve and their families. When Eleanor lost her husband, she had no one to care for her. She was placed in a home that was soon condemned—until she began to receive care from Easterseals DSPs. They helped her find safe housing, employment, and the support she needed to build a stable future. DSPs don’t just provide care—they help people reclaim their dignity and independence. But without secure federal funding, these life-changing supports are at risk. We must protect the future of disability services and the DSPs who provide these services for so many in the disability community. #ProtectDSPs #DisabilitySupportsMatter

Thank you Comcast! Play is for everyone!
Last week Comcast Team Up volunteers spent an afternoon adapting toys to make play accessible for our students. At Easterseals, through the expertise and creativity of our teachers and therapists, play is a powerful tool in helping children meet milestones and achieve goals. Comcast's investment in the community and partnership with Easterseals has a powerful impact on the children and families we serve.

Everyone deserves a smooth journey when flying home. Boston Whiplash United States Volt Hockey Association players Marley Robinson and Desi Forte, Youth Program Manager for Easterseals Massachusetts should have been celebrating their bronze medal from the Malmo Open. Instead, they faced unexpected travel challenges when their wheelchairs were deemed too heavy for their return flight, despite no issues on their flight to Denmark. Travel should be accessible for everyone. That’s why Easterseals is working toward making the U.S. the most accessible air travel market in the world by 2026. In many cultures, asking for help can feel like failing, and the pressure to keep up is real. This episode is an honest conversation about those unspoken struggles, cultural expectations, and the power of finally being seen and accommodated. In tomorrow's episode of Everything You Know About Disability Is Wrong, educator, advocate, and content creator Onyinye Udokporo MA, talks about the misconceptions surrounding neurodivergence and non-apparent disabilities. Onyinye shares her personal experiences with dyslexia and dyspraxia, touching on how tough it can be when others don’t see or understand what she’s going through.
