A Heartwarming Milestone: Graduation from Feeding Therapy ?? We are thrilled to celebrate a major achievement with one of our youngest patients! This week, this little one graduated from feeding therapy, marking a significant step forward in their development journey. To commemorate this milestone, the baby left their tiny footprint on the wall. ?? What is Feeding Therapy? ?? Feeding therapy is a specialized treatment designed to help babies and young children who experience difficulty with feeding and/or swallowing. This may include challenges such as trouble with sucking, chewing, swallowing, or transitioning to solid foods. ?? Spotlight on Our OT Student Intern! ?? Meet Meredith, who’s been with us for the past 2 weeks and will be here for the next 10 as part of her 12-week internship! ?? A little about Meredith: ?? Meredith is currently a student within the Master of Occupational Therapy Program at Cabarrus College of Health Sciences, and is completing her first Level II Fieldwork rotation here at Eastern Therapy. Meredith has lived in Wilmington for six years, and received her OTA degree in 2020 from Cape Fear Community College. It was during her time studying psychology for her undergrad at James Madison University that she discovered a passion for Occupational Therapy, and hasn't looked back since! ?? Meredith has over 3 years experience working with children in the school-system, home, and outpatient settings, and is excited to further expand her knowledge working with adult patients and conditions at our clinic. She is very passionate about interdisciplinary collaboration, which was a main reason she chose our clinic as her rotation site. Meredith has enjoyed diving further into her learning of developmental milestones, neurological conditions, feeding therapy, and all the ways to facilitate play! When she is not working or studying, Meredith enjoys visiting the beach, reading, trying out new recipes, and quality time with friends. ??? We're so lucky to have Meredith as part of our clinic family. She’s already shown a commitment to learning and growing in her role, and we can’t wait to see all the amazing things she will accomplish in the next 10 weeks! ??
