EIF ?? farmers—that's why this National Ag Day, we're advocating for an appropriation of $2.5 million in the fiscal year 2026 state budget for the Farm to Food Bank program (HB2879). Since being signed into law in 2023, Farm to Food Bank has supported low-income families and the Illinois agricultural economy alike by increasing the supply of fresh and nutritious food, reducing food waste, and expanding opportunities for Illinois farmers. As EIF and food banks across the state work to meet a historic need, we hope you'll join us in supporting this continued funding—a win-win for farmers and our neighbors experiencing food insecurity!
关于我们
OUR MISSION Eastern Illinois Foodbank exists to alleviate hunger in eastern Illinois. WHAT WE DO Eastern Illinois Foodbank is a member of the Feeding America network, and is the primary food source for food pantries, soup kitchens, homeless shelters, and other programs working to feed neighbors facing food insecurity. The Foodbank acquires millions of pounds of food and grocery product through purchase or donation and distributes it across our network of more than 160 feeding programs. Together, we’re working to create a hunger-free eastern Illinois. By partnering with EIF, emergency food programs are able to save millions of dollars each year in food purchase and handling costs. These savings allow them to focus their efforts and funds on more effectively working to alleviate hunger in our area. The Foodbank also operates programs targeted to children, seniors, and veterans. We fight hunger in communities throughout these 18 counties in eastern Illinois: Champaign Clark Clay Coles Crawford Cumberland DeWitt Douglas Edgar Ford Iroquois Jasper Livingston McLean Moultrie Piatt Vermilion Woodford

As relentless price increases continue, local moms like Meranda are feeling the strain on their budget. "We stick to the minimum," she told us while shopping at the St. Patrick pantry in Tolono. "It's sad when the kids want something fun, and I have to say 'No, honey, not this time.' That can be hard." If you donate now, your gift can provide TWICE the nutritious meals to families like Meranda's. Take two minutes to listen to her story and give today! ?? https://lnkd.in/g6FC7zva

The Illinois Department of Agriculture has announced that the Local Food Purchase Assistance program (LFPA) has been suspended after federal funding was cut. EIF has not relied on this program as a long-term resource, and we are grateful for the impact it has had in providing high-quality protein to our neighbors experiencing hunger. While this change will affect what is served on our Foodmobile routes, our priority continues to be providing nutritious groceries to the communities we serve. As the growing season approaches, we will strive to offer more fresh produce on the Foodmobile. As EIF works to meet a historic need for food assistance, we too are impacted by factors such as rising costs and food shortages. If you're interested in supporting the Foodbank, your donation will empower us to provide more meals to our neighbors.
