At the 2024 Summit Awards, hosted by ETSU's Student Activities and Organizations, the East Tennessean won the Summit Award for Outstanding Educational Program for its yearlong celebration of its 100th anniversary throughout 2023. The East Tennessean is honored to receive such recognition for our success and efforts in leading the centennial celebration. Macy Strader has been selected to serve as the executive editor for the East Tennessean during the 2024-2025 school year. Strader is currently an undergraduate student studying media and communication with concentrations in psychology and marketing. She started as a news reporter for the East Tennessean in Fall 2022 and currently serves as exterior relations for the Student Government Association. Strader is also a Roan Scholar, serves on the executive board for TEDxETSU and is an ETSU ambassador. As executive editor, she hopes to boost student engagement with the paper and the East Tennessean's involvement in student activities.
