Yet another example of our valuable members building community and support through programs that matter! - "We recently celebrated the second cohort of Dow Leadership Academy students receiving their coveted red blazers! 34 exceptional scholars from Angleton High School have completed the first year of a rigorous three-year program, preparing them for STEM careers and educational opportunities. The 'red blazer' symbolizes their leadership, excellence, and commitment to the Dow Leadership Academy. The blazer is custom-tailored to each student and worn with an immense amount of pride. Facilitated by Orange Strategy and Terry Simmons students receive mentorship from Dow colleagues, communication, social skills, leadership, and financial literacy, as well as offer STEM career exploration and experiences. The program begins during the student's sophomore year and continues upon graduation in twelfth grade. The East Harris County Manufacturers Association is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of US Congressman Sylvester Turner. We are grateful for his lifetime of public service, including his time as Houston Mayor. Our deepest condolences go to his family, his team members and all those who grieve the loss of this great man. May he rest in power.
