Yesterday Lumin was in Austin advocating for quality childcare funding and accessibility at the Capitol Building. Lumin Education has been active in the community and beyond since 1978, working for the benefit of all families.

At Lumin Education, we believe in nurturing lifelong learners and leaders—and we love seeing that come full circle! We recently had the opportunity to meet with the Alcuin School Leadership Development class. Among the students was Natalia Santillan, a proud Lumin alum now thriving as a 12th grader at Alcuin. Seeing Natalia grow into a leader reminds us why we do this work: to equip children with a strong foundation that lasts a lifetime.

Elementary students at Lumin Lindsley Park Community School dropped off food bank donations to our friends at Jubilee Park Community Center this week and were able to help stock shelves with their donations. We're so proud of our team members, Gaby Glidden and Charo Alarcón, for representing Lumin Education at the TXAEYC Conference 2024 in Frisco. Gaby presented on play therapy, highlighting its importance as a child’s emotional language and how it supports their emotional health. Charo shared how mindfulness practices help children focus and self-regulate. Their contributions reflect Lumin’s commitment to fostering emotional well-being for all children.

I presented at the Parents as Teachers International Conference in San Diego about ways we can and must bridge the cultural divide. I had a blast and hope to be able to keep up spreading the word and inspiring, if not change, at least adjustments and considerations for inclusion and respect of all and other cultures. Attendees even learned a song in Mayan K’iche’ ! Thanks for those that supported behind and in front of the scene. Exciting News from San Diego! ? We are thrilled to announce that Lumin Education’s Home Visiting program has been selected as one of the winners of this year’s Losos Prize for Innovation at the Parents as Teachers International Conference! ?? This prestigious award recognizes our team's outstanding achievements in program innovation, and we are honored to be among this year's recipients.
