For our week of #gratitude, we give thanks to programs and partnerships that provide second chances in life. When we face challenges in our career journeys, we are grateful for the helping hands that are there when we need it the most. Many thanks to OPB for this feature on the WorkSource Oregon Reentry program. Be inspired by Desmond Hoy's journey from incarceration at Deer Ridge Correctional Institution in Madras to welding for a fabrication shop in North Portland. As Hoy shares in the article: “I decided years ago that every decision I make is gonna be based on whether it strengthens my relationship with my loved ones,” Hoy said in April, when he was just weeks away from being released. “I got kids now. I’ve had time to get my priorities re-evaluated and I know that [welding] is something that I wanna get into as a career.” Link to the full article: https://lnkd.in/gWuTf--3 #WeAreWorkSourceOregon #WorkforceDevelopment

As we enter the season of gratitude, it’s a wonderful time to reflect on the essential support systems that enrich our lives. Family, friends, colleagues, and employers all play pivotal roles in shaping our journeys, and acknowledging their contributions can deepen our connections and appreciation. ?? Family: The Cornerstone of Support For many, family serves as the foundation of their support system. They provide love, encouragement, and a safe haven during challenging times. The unwavering support from family members often reminds us of the importance of resilience and the power of unconditional love. ?? Friends: The Chosen Family Friends are another crucial part of this network. They bring joy, laughter, and companionship into our lives. The late-night conversations and shared adventures create lasting memories and remind us that we are never alone in our struggles. Friends inspire us to be our best selves and uplift us when we need it most. ?? Colleagues: Building Together In the workplace, colleagues form a vital support system that fosters collaboration and camaraderie. A positive work environment encourages teamwork and innovation, making projects not just achievable but enjoyable. Together, they create a culture where everyone feels valued and empowered to contribute. ?? Employers: Guiding Lights Employers also play a significant role in shaping our experiences. Their belief in their teams and commitment to providing resources for growth empower individuals to thrive both personally and professionally. Strong leadership can inspire loyalty and motivate employees to reach their full potential. As we reflect on these support systems, it’s important to express gratitude for the people who uplift us every day. Recognizing their contributions not only strengthens bonds but also encourages a culture of appreciation and support. What are you grateful for in your support system? Let’s celebrate these connections together! #Gratitude #SupportSystems #Thankful #Community

Poor #leadership has a profound impact on employee turnover, retention, and morale. Here's a sobering look at the numbers: ? According to The Chamber of Business & Industry of Centre County (CBICC)- 75% of workers report that their immediate boss is the most stressful part of their job. ? Replacing an employee can cost up to one half to double their salary, according to Gallup research. ? Gallup shares 51% of U.S. employees are currently watching or actively seeking a new job, the highest level since 2015. ? 42% of voluntary employee turnover is preventable, yet often ignored by management. ? 45% of employees who voluntarily left their jobs report that neither a manager nor leader proactively discussed their job satisfaction, performance or future with the organization in the three months before their departure. ? NetSuite shares that poor leadership accounts for 70% of the variance in employee engagement. The ripple effects of ineffective leadership are far-reaching: ? High turnover rates create a sense of insecurity and overwork among remaining employees, decreasing morale and productivity according to Future Code. ? Toxic work environments fostered by poor managers can push high performers out of the organization. ? Lack of career development opportunities and meaningful feedback from leaders is a key driver of turnover. ? When multiple employees leave due to a problem manager, overall employee performance drops across the board. The good news? Good leadership can significantly mitigate these issues. Making investments in leadership development, fostering open communication, and prioritizing employee engagement are crucial steps in reducing turnover and boosting morale. Leaders, the ball is in your court. Your impact on retention and workplace culture is immense. Are you part of the problem or the solution? #EmployeeRetention #WorkplaceCulture #WorkSourceOregon #Employer #BusinessServices
