?? Africa’s $120 Billion Opportunity in Carbon Markets: Who Will Lead? ?? Africa has unparalleled potential for carbon removal and conservation projects, but turning that potential into $120 billion per year by 2050 won’t happen by itself. COP29 may have ended with mixed reviews, but let’s focus on the real breakthrough: operationalising Article 6 of the Paris Agreement. Now it is in the hands of governments in Africa to ensure the regulatory frameworks and infrastructure required to deliver robust credits to the market. Whoever moves first will seize the lion’s share. Countries like Rwanda and Zambia are already showing the way—streamlining processes, attracting investors, and setting up frameworks for success.
