As part of #EASA’s International Cooperation activities, this week we have been hosting a Safety Promotion Workshop in Singapore for aviation authorities in the Asia Pacific Region. The 3-day event started with discussions on the importance of Safety Promotion as a vital 4th pillar of Safety Management, as defined in International Civil Aviation Organization Annex 19. In the modern world, safe operations rely on effective communication to Industry and the public on key #safety topics. Authorities shared their approach to planning, organising and developing engaging safety promotion content. These were demonstrated by various case studies covering the full spectrum of aviation operations, from airline operations to recreational flying, rotorcraft and drones. Authorities also shared methods of dealing with crisis situations. On the final day, the participants worked together to develop practical campaigns on the role of safety promotion, occurrence reporting and safety leadership. You can find out more about EASA Safety Promotion activities and join any of our Safety Promotion Community Sites that might be relevant for your operations ?? https://lnkd.in/eWjZSERD

#EASA’s Annual Safety Conference addressing “Safety – Technology – and the human dimension” was a great success and a valuable forum for discussing the role of humans in the future of aviation. Our Executive Director, Florian Guillermet emphasised his vision of keeping humans at the centre of #AviationSafety for many decades to come. All parties agreed that EASA must gain experience with the new "smart cockpit" technologies being developed by manufacturers. We can then see whether these enhance #safety in current operations, with two pilots on the flight deck. New concepts such as extended Minimum Crew Operations (eMCO) will only be considered later. As a general principle, any new technologies or concepts in aviation must always enhance safety. We also addressed current safety challenges, such as interference with GNSS navigation and human factors contributing to runway incursions.
