Over the past four years, pladis has been proud to?fund?collective action transformation projects in C?te d'Ivoire, one of the world's largest cocoa-producing countries, and where a large percentage of the cacao beans are sourced from in the chocolate and biscuit industry. These plans have included working with farmers like Konate Ibrahima on agroforestry initiatives and regenerative agriculture practices that can lead to farmers improving the health of their farms, producing more cacao and earning more to support their livelihoods?in line with our global commitment?to support the farming?communities that are foundational to our biscuits, snacks and chocolates. ? With the support of our partners at Earthworm Foundation?and Earthworm Foundation Africa, Mr. Ibrahima has begun planting complementary trees and crops such as oil palm, maize and sweet potatoes, improving soil fertility for his cacao farm as well as ensuring local food security in his community – a strong case study showing the importance of farm diversification in regenerative agriculture.? ?
