How Did We Bring Happiness to Farmer Konaté Ibrahima? Congratulations to the pladis team for their inspiring work in C?te d’Ivoire! Supporting farming communities and promoting sustainable practices are key to building a brighter future. This agroforestry and regenerative agriculture initiative, developed in partnership with Earthworm Foundation, is a powerful example of how we can create value not only for our industry but also for farmers like Konate Ibrahima and their communities. Through these efforts, pladis demonstrates a strong commitment to global sustainability goals while strengthening its partnerships with those at the very heart of our value chain. I am proud to see such impactful projects that contribute to local livelihoods, environmental health, and food security. Well done to everyone involved in this remarkable journey. Regenerating Soils and Forests with and for people.

I was in #Brazil last week. I spent my time with farmers, our teams and our members, in #Pará, one of the largest Amazonian provinces of #Brazil where we focus our work. I come back with one word: #abundance Nature's best characteristic. A path to reconnect with her. A way to counter the human fear of scarcity, which drives our behaviours or competition, accumulation without limits and ultimately leads to the destruction of our precious ecosystems. A philosophy of joy and prosperity. "At the same time that populations from the riverbanks of the Nile were struggling with their monocultures , Indigenous people from the Amazon were having the highest yields ever per hectare thanks to their #TerraPreta agriculture" says Luiz Felipe H. Aranha Moura who lead the @MuCA the Museum of Sciences from the Amazon. #TerraPreta (a man made black, extremely fertile soil created by those communities by adding a mix of charcoal, bones, broken pottery and manure to the low fertilizy Amazonian soil). With his team they collect and revive the ancestral knowledge from Indigenous communities from the region who used to farm on the "Terra Preta gave them #abundance of fruits, vegetables, spices, medicinal herbs etc....why couldn't we do it too?" he says. Isn't it a great purpose to have? #regenerativeagriculture (when applied well) is not a new marketing concept. It's about bringing this philosophy from our ancestors back into our agricultural systems to cultivate #abundance. At times when some would like to oppose #production and #ecology, I firmly believe that our objective should instead be to marry them fully, and unlock more production per hectare through understanding better the laws of nature, how it thrives with #diversity, healthy #soils, active microbiome etc etc... The path back to ancestral knowledge is just starting. ??A reflection from Fabien Girard, Europe Director at Earthworm - "Last week, I joined a panel at the Biodiversity & Economy Forum, hosted by the Alliance pour la Préservation des Forêts (APF), to tackle a key issue: imported #soy from Brazil and its link to deforestation and ecosystem conversion, particularly in the #Cerrado. We discussed the Zero Deforestation and Conversion (#ZDC) methodology, which was developed to ensure soy supply chains are free from deforestation and ecosystem conversion. This approach aims to create lasting change in the French market by working directly with key players: retailers, manufacturers, processors, and soy traders. ?? Alongside Michel Biero (VP of Lidl France), Julien Denormandie (former Minister of Agriculture), Guillaume Réveilhac (President of APF), and Sylvain Angerand (Canopée), we explored practical ways to end soy-related deforestation and conversion. Lidl France, represented by Michel Biero, has been a vital ally in driving this transition through its commitments. Julien Denormandie also shared his vision for more sustainable #agriculture, including the importance of growing plant-based proteins locally in France. These crops, beneficial in crop rotation systems, are essential to the agroecological transition and the health of our soils. ?? Next week, we celebrate 4 years of the #SoyManifesto, a milestone in our collective efforts to reduce soy-driven deforestation and ecosystem conversion. This manifesto shows the power of voluntary commitments and collaboration among key stakeholders. ??However, the urgency to act remains high. At the end of the forum, we learned about delays in the EU’s regulation on imported deforestation (#EUDR) and amendments that could significantly weaken it. This makes private sector initiatives like the ZDC methodology even more critical. A big thank you to the Alliance for the Preservation of Forests and Laure Grégoire for hosting such insightful discussions!" ?? We’re thrilled to announce a new partnership in Latin America between Alianza Team? Team, Earthworm Foundation, and Airbus Defence and Space - Intelligence through our #Starling solution! ? ?? Starling, a geospatial solution co-developed by Airbus and Earthworm Foundation, is designed to help companies advance their zero deforestation and net zero targets by providing reliable monitoring and assessment tools. ? Yet, turning these pledges into meaningful action requires clear definitions, reliable tracking systems, and ongoing monitoring. Without a structured approach, measuring real progress and ensuring that raw material production respects and protects forest ecosystems is challenging. This partnership addresses these needs by providing robust monitoring tools, insightful reporting and clear criteria to track and manage deforestation risks, making zero-deforestation goals actionable and accountable. ? Our work with Alianza Team supports their progress on this journey through: ? ?? No-Deforestation Commitment Support – We monitor deforestation throughout Alianza’s supply chain and engage with suppliers on a no-deforestation path, helping Alianza’s Team responsibly source palm oil and advance their sustainability goals.?? ? ?? Peatland Analysis – We conduct peatland assessments across multiple LATAM countries to quantify the impact of supply chains on these unique ecosystems and prevent future deforestation risks. ? By joining forces, we are building resilient #supplychains that protect critical ecosystems and support sustainable practices across LATAM, making a measurable impact in safeguarding our planet’s forests for future generations! ? Pleased to join Walid Al Saqqaf - Rebalance Earth in this series and discuss the importance of nature-based solutions to tackle both climate and nature imperatives. Connecting them with local communities to create long term resilience and impact on a much wider basis is a goal for us at Reckitt and with our partners in the Earthworm Foundation and Nature-based Insights from the Nature-Based Solutions Initiative.

?? 90 Seconds to make a difference: “What’s the value of mapping beneficiaries?” ?? THE FIRST INTERVIEW IS LIVE?? Featuring David Croft, Global Head of Sustainability at Reckitt, we explore a vital question: How can mapping ecosystem beneficiaries spark transformative change? ?? David shares some powerful insights: ?? Map all the beneficiaries of ecosystem services: From landscapes to water catchments, it’s about understanding who benefits and bringing that group together to push for meaningful, scalable change. ?? Nature-based solutions aren’t just good for Nature - they build resilience: NBSs secure long-term value for businesses, communities, and biodiversity. ?? Finance is the key to unlocking action: Nature finance can bridge the gap between private, public, and non-market stakeholders to fund solutions we all rely on. Imagine the possibilities when businesses, governments, and communities work together to invest in Nature, and how that investment could transform our future. ?? What’s your take? How do you see mapping beneficiaries influencing the way we fund and prioritise Nature-based solutions? Share your thoughts in the comments below! ?? ? The race to bring nature finance to market is on... #90seconds #NatureFinance #NatureBasedSolutions #RebalanceEarth #ThoughtLeadership #AWorldWorthLivingIn

Strategic Projects Manager, Regional Social Impact Lead

This week, I attended 3M's Environmental & Community Resilience Exchange to discuss with practitioners from 40 organizations across multiple sectors - academia, NGO, community, government, & corporate how we can collaborate to support a just transition that puts community voice, rights and needs at the center. Big thank you to Michelle Diggs, MBA & Garfield A. Bowen for being intentional hosts and facilitating such insightful and honest conversations! Yinka N. Bode-George, Kate Davenport and I spoke on the role of NGOs and intermediaries in supporting community-company engagement and how corporates can earn community trust. My elevator answer: There is no rushing the process and social license is earned. Relationships move at the speed of trust. I spoke about the governance process and ways of working partners undertake in the Tsay Keh Dene-led landscape collaboration. We build trust through two-way, reciprocal learning, time together on the land, obtaining the Nation's free, prior and informed (FPIC) consent for partnership activities, and following our joint communications protocol. As we approach nearly 5 years of partnership between Tsay Keh Dene Nation, Earthworm Foundation, Chu Cho Environmental, 3M, Mars, Nestlé there have been many lessons learned along the way. Thank you to our 3M collaborators for championing this partnership Kate Shelton Penny Wise Amanda Yates Vielka Mora Geertje Pollaris Melissa Jurenas Meghan Faricy
