Three Things I learned at New Worlds Conference, NASA Space Center Houston: 1 - ?? We need a cultural value shift in policy and funding for Life Sciences. Planning for longer term human space presence beyond the Magnetosphere continues to be significantly lacking with regards to Life Sciences. The human body and psyche is not understood, nor is microbial evolution, ecosystem science, or agriculture. Funding and attention for life science research needed is cannibalized by engineering. Yes we have to get there ?? and have life support systems ????. But we cannot thrive in space without massively funding life sciences across the board. 2 - ?? The next generation of space stations is right around the corner, we got to review 4 commercial companies deep in manufacturing preparing to fulfill a demand for research, manufacturing and hospitality in orbit. I am hopeful this technology can be used deep in cis lunar space to do some of that life science research we need so badly. 3 - ?? Space enthusiasts are certainly some of the most optimistic people on the planet (and beyond?) The movement of true global connection and envisioning a future where we dance among the stars and find harmony with Earth is alive and well. Brilliant and ambitious leaders are pushing and riding this next wave of space exploration. AND, we could all use more tangible reminders about the reality of the challenges we face that cannot be fixed with technology. We must work harder to expand our minds bridging the Earth and human elements. ?? ? It was a joy to present on Cosmic Citizen Trainings, Inc. upcoming programs, and how we are working to bridge that gap between personal evolution and planetary preservation to ensure a thriving future on Earth and beyond. As United States Space Force Guardians look to position themselves and their talking points with the new administration, they should be aware of the clear signal given at the end of the last administration in their vision document "A New Era for Deep Space Exploration and Development" which provides the broad strategic context, and the broad roles they foresaw for the space force within that context: "The strategy delineated in this paper supports an ambitious vision for human space exploration and development. This vision is one in which there is a sustainable human and robotic presence across the solar system — an expanding sphere of commercial, non-governmental activities in which increasing numbers of Americans live and work in space. This vision begins with a campaign to utilize Earth’s orbital environment, the surface and resources of the Moon, and cis-lunar space to develop the critical technologies, operational capabilities, and commercial space economy necessary for a sustainable human presence on the Moon, Mars, and beyond. U.S. space exploration efforts impact and aid multiple national interests, including the economy, national security, scientific advances, and diplomacy."?(p 1) "To execute this vision requires a secure international environment that is conducive to U.S. commercial growth. The United States Space Force (USSF) does not have a direct role in the civil exploration and development of space per se – its responsibilities focus on organizing, training, and equipping the forces needed to support combatant commands and ensure unfettered access to and the use of space by the United States and its allies and partners. However, activities such as space transportation and logistics, power, communication, navigation, and space domain awareness, are of dual-use value to all space sectors – civil, national security, and commercial."
