This week, I had the opportunity to share a personal reflection at our Generation Impact event: what truly drew me to join EB Impact was our human-centered approach and unwavering focus on people. While sustainability as a topic is often complex and technical, it ultimately comes down to people like you and me. We are the ones who will make a difference in building a more sustainable future. The past two weeks have been a clear reflection of our mission to empower individuals to build a more sustainable world. Earlier this week, we hosted Generation Impact, which featured the grand finale of our flagship Sustainability Exchange (Season Four) programme and the inaugural award ceremony for the ComfortDelgro-EB Impact Sustainability Education Grant. During this event, we awarded a total of $50,000 in seed funding for the winning teams to bring their innovative sustainability projects to life and an additional $50,000 in education grants to ten ASEAN youths pursuing sustainability focused studies. We also held our Sustainability Media Academy workshops in Bangkok and Jakarta to empower regional journalists with the knowledge and tools to amplify awareness of sustainability issues. This would not have been possible without our wonderful partners - Meta, OCBC, City Developments Limited, SG Eco Fund, ComfortDelGro, Vero , Earth Journalism Network, RGE, APRIL, Tara Climate Foundation, and Eco-Business. Thank you for your partnership and commitment to driving meaningful change and impact together. In 2022, Indian journalist Rahul Sharma was awarded an EJN #CleanAirCatalyst story grant to report on the air pollution caused by the loading and offloading of cement and fertilizer at the Itarsi railway station's cargo shed. Sharma’s consistent reporting brought the issue to the attention of well-known activists, and ultimately the National Green Tribunal, prompting the Railways to act. Following the Sustainability Media Academy (SMA) Singapore Masterclass in September, we’ve held two satellite workshops in Bangkok, Thailand and Jakarta, Indonesia, with one more upcoming in the Philippines! We are honoured to have hosted journalists and editors from media organisations such as Nikkei Asia, Reuters, Earthworm Foundation, and Journodocoders Indonesia (https://lnkd.in/grFA-a_D)?across our regional workshops. Our satellite workshops, designed as an immersive one-day programme, provide a country-level focus on sustainable development issues. These workshops saw leading sustainability professionals and senior journalists share insights and strategies with our participants in tackling pressing and emerging challenges in sustainable development reporting. Topics such as ‘Sustainable development and its impact on businesses’ and ‘Cutting through the greenwash: strategies for authentic storytelling’, were covered to enhance our participants’ capabilities to report accurately and in greater depth on sustainability issues.? As we wrap-up our Thailand and Indonesia satellite workshops for this season, we would like to thank our participants and speakers in Thailand and Indonesia for their active engagement. We would also like to express our gratitude to our strategic partners Tara Climate Foundation, Vero , RGE, APRIL, Eco-Business, and Earth Journalism Network for supporting Sustainability Media Academy Season 3 and for contributing to the success of this programme.
