We are ecstatic to win this year's Engineering Excellence Commendation Award with American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC). We partnered with Wallace Group to improve "the worst intersection" in Paso Robles by building a roundabout. This intersection, once dangerous, congested, and difficult to navigate, has been transformed into an efficient, sustainable transit corridor. Earth Systems provided essential services, including compaction testing for sewer and water line backfill, observation and testing of FDR-C operations, inspection of HMA placement with associated materials testing, and compaction testing for minor concrete and aggregate base areas. #EEA2025 #BuildingabetterCA #engineering #development #engineeringteam

The Cultural Arts District Parking Structure project is well underway in San Luis Obispo. Located downtown, this site will offer 397 parking spots, 41 EV chargers and 32 bike racks. Earth Systems is working closely with Kitchell, providing testing and inspection services for the City of San Luis Obispo. We have an experienced staff of professionals working on this challenging site which include Rob Down, Nick Zoetewey, PE, GE, Aileen Flynn, PE, Luis Hernandez, Sydney Johnson, Sam Venable, Fred Potthast, Charles Zanoli and more. Concrete pour will begin next month, and the project is set to be completed by the end of 2025.

Gavilan College held a ribbon cutting and celebration on Wednesday, November 13 for the new campus in Hollister. Over 100 people showed up and it was a beautiful day. The mural titled “Cultural Resources,” depicts the history of San Benito County and Gavilan College from the perspective of local Indigenous tribes. Earth Systems worked with Felice Consulting Services, LLC to provide a geotechnical engineering investigation and a geologic hazards report for the initial three buildings constructed. Earth Systems was retained to provide geotechnical observation, materials testing, and special inspection of soil, concrete, masonry, steel, bolting and spray-applied fireproofing during construction. Aileen Flynn, PE?explains the geotechnical work that Earth Systems provided on the California Polytechnic State University (Cal Poly) campus at the CalGeo Central Coast regional meeting last month. This year's CCFC tradeshow was a blast with Kevin Paul and Christopher Gardner in Rancho Mirage. The mission of the Community College Facility Coalition is to provide leadership in legislative advocacy and deliver critical information, education, and training on facilities issues for community college districts and their business partners to enhance student learning.?

Throwback Thursday to this historical project Earth Systems worked on in Pasadena. The Civic Center Mid-Town Improvements project involved reconstructing the street pavement outside of Pasadena City Hall and installing brick-paved crosswalks that would be in keeping with the intricate style of the brick sidewalks originally designed by the City Hall’s first architects, Bakewell and Brown.
