Why we do what we do is an important part of a journey. Inspired by a youth climate activist to learn more about climate change, our founder jumped all in. When she researched how little philanthropy goes to climate and environmental nonprofits on the front lines of the work (2%), she knew something needed to be done. So from the Earth Gives HQ in Phoenix, one of the cities that is often mentioned when it comes to climate and the warming planet, she set out to change that. Using what she learned in helping start of another giving day supporting the nonprofits in Arizona, Earth Gives was b-earthed. This 501c3 works to connect people with climate, justice and environmental nonprofits across the United States - doing impactful work locally and globally. As you can imagine, we need resources to harness the power of generosity and action. The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission decided today to withdraw from defending the climate risk disclosure rule. An unfortunate move that Ceres' Steven M. Rothstein stated is "a step backwards in helping investors and other market participants have the information to manage climate-related financial risks."
