Last week the Underserved Mortgage Markets Coalition (UMMC), an alliance of 42 leading US housing organizations, including Earth Advantage, published a scorecard assessing Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac’s new Duty to Serve (DTS) Underserved Market Plans for 2025–2027. The UMMC is also calling on the Government-Sponsored Enterprises to go further to reach underserved housing markets. This Oregonian article from last week provides some good insight into how programs like Oregon Department of Energy's Community Heat Pump Deployment Program (CHPDP) - which provides funding for community organizations and public agencies like Multnomah County to install heat pumps in the homes of eligible reisdents - make a tangible difference for people without access to consistent, affordable heating and cooling solutions. The State legislature is considering whether to allow this program to sunset later this year.
